MANILA, Philippines — Murder suspect and former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office board member Sandra Cam was taken to a hospital in Manila on Thursday for treatment of a lingering illness.

Sources said Cam was transferred from the Philippine National Police General Hospital on Thursday night and brought to Medical Center Manila along United Nations Avenue.

The sources did not elaborate on Cam’s medical condition.

Cam, her son Marco Martin Cam and five others are facing murder charges for the killing of Batuan, Masbate Vice Mayor Charlie Yuson III in Sampaloc, Manila in October 2019.

Yuson’s widow, Lalaine, alleged that the Cams were involved in her husband’s killing because their son, Charmax Jan Yuson, defeated Marco Martin in the 2019 mayoral race in Batuan.

Yuson’s companion, Alberto Alforte IV, was wounded in the shooting.

Cam surrendered in April 2021 after Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 42 Judge Dinnah Aguila-Topacio issued a warrant for her arrest.

She has denied involvement in Yuson’s murder.
