LINGAYEN, Pangasinan , Philippines — The mayor of this town has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a post on Facebook yesterday, Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil said the result of his reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test showed that he contracted the virus.
He said he had himself tested after he experienced cough and cold.
“Despite the ways I have adopted to avoid the virus and strict compliance with health protocols for almost two years, I was still positive,” Bataoil said.
The mayor's office was closed yesterday for disinfection.
Bataoil said he would continue to work while on quarantine. – Emmanuel Tupas
