Pasay hospital reaches full capacity
MANILA, Philippines — The Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH) will stop accepting COVID and non-COVID patients after it reached full capacity yesterday.
PCGH officer-in-charge Dr. John de Gracia said the hospital’s intensive care unit, ward beds, emergency rooms and isolation units for COVID-19 cases are at full capacity.
“We want to inform the public that we could not accept severe and critical patients of COVID-19 anymore,” De Gracia said.
The hospital will also not accept non-COVID patients due to shortage of personnel, he added.
As of Wednesday, 44 nurses and other PCGH workers had tested positive for the virus or manifested symptoms.
“Only emergencies and life-threatening surgical procedures are the ones we can take in,” De Gracia said.
All consultations will be conducted through telemedicine. The hospital’s vaccination program will be suspended for 10 days.
The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Pasay soared to 810, from just one last Dec. 20.
