LTFRB opens 2 bus routes
MANILA, Philippines — The government yesterday opened two more routes for public utility buses in anticipation of the expected increase of travelers going to the provinces for the New Year celebration, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said.
Based on Memorandum Circular 2021-079 issued by the LTFRB, city and provincial buses with valid certificates of public convenience or with pending applications for validity extension are allowed to ply the North Luzon Express Terminal - Araneta Bus Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City and the North Luzon Express Terminal - PITX through the North Luzon Expressway beginning yesterday until March 31, 2022.
The agency said city bus operators who want to apply for interim operations are required to submit the Official Receipt and Certificate of Registration of the bus unit with personal passenger insurance policy and proof that the bus is operational with closed-circuit television, a dashcam, WiFi and Global Navigation Satellite System for monitoring purposes.
The LTFRB reminded drivers and passengers to strictly observe health protocols to avoid the spread of the virus while in transit.
