113 Pinoys return home from Malaysia

Pia Lee-Brago - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 113 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) displaced by the pandemic have returned home from Malaysia, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported yesterday.

The OFWs arrived in Manila on a Philippine Airlines flight on Saturday, the DFA said.

The Filipinos requested assistance from the Philippine embassy in Kuala Lumpur for their immediate repatriation due to financial constraints brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last week, the Philippine consulate general in Macau repatriated 191 Filipinos back to the Philippines in time for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The consulate has brought a total of 5,152 Filipinos back home since the pandemic started in March 2020.
