MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), in coordination with the Quezon City government led by Mayor Joy Belmonte and University of the Philippines National Center for Transportation Studies, has opened three electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the city.

The charging stations are located at the UP Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute, QC Department of Public Order and Safety office and the Payatas environmental office.

Enrico Paringit, executive director of the DOST Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development, welcomed the partnership with the city government for the pilot of the Electric Mobility and Charging Infrastructure Operating as a Network project.

In collaboration with the Department of Energy, the Quezon City government has distributed several e-trikes to tricycle operators.

Paringit said they hope to promote electric vehicles in the city to encourage motorists to adopt EVs as a cleaner and greener option for public transportation.
