MANILA, Philippines — The city council of Manila on Friday passed a resolution providing P2.5 million in assistance to provinces ravaged by Typhoon Odette.

Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, who heads the city council, said P1 million would be given to Cebu and P500,000 each to Bohol, Leyte and Surigao del Norte.

Lacuna said Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, who is running for president in next year’s elections, appealed to the city council to hold a special session and allot funding for provinces devastated by Odette.
