Girl, 11, dies in Taguig fire

MANILA, Philippines — An 11-year-old girl died yesterday after she was trapped in her burning house in Taguig while an infant was injured, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.

The BFP said the fire broke out at the victims’ house in Barangay Ibayo Tipas shortly after noon yesterday. The fire was put out before 1 p.m.

Arson probers said they have yet to identify the fatality. The eight-month-old boy was taken to the hospital for treatment of second-degree burns.

Reports said the girl was sleeping at the house’s mezzanine when the fire erupted.

Two other houses were destroyed by the fire, the BFP said.

About 10 families or 41 people were displaced by the fire.

Arson investigators said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
