MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents arrested a woman after she allegedly accepted a parcel containing 4,970 tablets of the party drug Ecstasy amounting to P8.5 million in Las Piñas City on Tuesday.
Ana Fe Morilla was apprehended in Barangay Almanza Uno, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
The PDEA said the parcel, which originated from Belgium, arrived at the Port of Clark on Dec. 3.
The consignor, whom the PDEA did not identify, declared the package as lamp, but authorities discovered illegal drugs during examination.
Personnel of the Bureau of Customs and Southern Police District also took part in the operation.
In Manila, a barangay tanod or watchman and seven others were nabbed for alleged possession of P884,000 worth of shabu on Tuesday night.
Bobby Swing was arrested along with Luz Mayes, Evelyn Abrillo, Jeffrey Bobis, Alexander Ronquillo, Emmanuel Cordero, Ace Robles and Verna Obinguar during a sting along Quezon Boulevard in Quiapo.
Police said they recovered from the suspects nine sachets of shabu weighing at least 130 grams.
