Chinese held for compatriot’s kidnap
MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese man was arrested at a condominium in Pasay City on Monday for allegedly akidnapping his fellow Chinese and holding him for ransom.
In a report yesterday, the Southern Police District (SPD) said police tracked down Gao Lei following a complaint by Wang Chen Yang, 28, who told police his friend Liu Kun, 26, had been taken.
Police caught Gao as he was about to flee with Liu, who was found in the suspect’s vehicle with his hands bound with packaging tape. Lawmen also reportedly found drugs in the vehicle.
Gao is being held at the Pasay police station on charges of kidnapping and possession of illegal drugs, the SPD said. – Ralph Edwin Villanueva
