No face-to-face Christmas parties in Angeles

Ric Sapnu - The Philippine Star

ANGELES CITY, Philippines — Unless the participants are members of the same household, in-person Christmas parties are prohibited in this city.

Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. issued an executive order banning parties from Dec. 6 to Jan. 10 as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.

He said the measure is aimed at preventing a surge in infections especially with the Omicron variant, which has been detected in various countries.

Aside from Christmas parties, social gatherings for employees of establishments and companies as well as reunions of family members who live in different houses, former colleagues and schoolmates are prohibited.

“Let us not put our guard down. This coming holiday season, we should be of help to one another in putting an end to this pandemic. Ito naman po ang tunay na kahulugan ng mga selebrasyon na ito, pagmamahalan at pagtutulungan,” Lazatin said.
