2 South Koreans held for extortion

Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Two South Koreans were arrested in Pasay on Thursday on charges of extortion and car theft, the Southern Police District (SPD) said yesterday.

In a spot report, Lee Giyeoung, 62, and Kim Jae Yong, 55, were arrested in an entrapment operation in a condominium unit along Donada street.

The operation stemmed from a complaint by another South Korean, Kim Yooshik, 54, who said his vehicle was stolen by Hyunju Kim, who remains at large.

The two suspects asked the complainant for money in exchange for the vehicle. They were charged with extortion while Hyunju was charged with violating Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act.
