Passenger hurt after stone thrown at MRT-3

MANILA, Philippines — A passenger was injured in a stone- throwing incident that broke a train window at the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) Taft Avenue station yesterday.

The 51-year-old male passenger, who was not identified, suffered a head injury after a stone went through the window of a train, the Department of Transportation and the MRT-3 management said.

A scavenger was arrested at a construction site along Taft Avenue for allegedly throwing the stone.

The MRT-3 management vowed to pursue charges against the suspect.

“The management assures the public that legal charges will be filed against those involved in the incident,” the MRT-3 said.

“Necessary steps will also be taken to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future,” the management added. – Ralph Edwin Villanueva
