MANILA, Philippines — Two men were arrested after they were caught stealing laptops and other gadgets valued at P289,600 from a school in Manila at past midnight on Wednesday.

Meldion Garcia Samson, 41, and Jeffrey Galero Fernando, 40, were reportedly apprehended by a security guard in Moises Salvador Elementary School in Sampaloc, according to a report from Manila Police District (MPD) spokesman Capt. Philipp Ines.

Four laptops worth P113,600, a projector worth P16,000, a P90,000 computer set and a central processing unit valued at P70,000 were recovered from the suspects, Ines said.

The two men reportedly planned to steal power cables as well. One suspect admitted to being addicted to betting on online cockfights.
