Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police released on Thursday P8.2 billion in funds for the year-end bonus and cash gifts for the PNP’s 222,418 officers and personnel.

PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said the funds are from the regular PNP appropriations programmed in their 2021 budget.

The year-end bonus and cash gifts were credited to the individual payroll accounts of police personnel with the Land Bank of the Philippines last Nov. 18.

The year-end bonus is equivalent to one month basic pay while the cash gift is pro-rated at P5,000.

Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., director of the PNP Finance Service, said bonuses exceeding P90,000 are taxable, affecting at least 15,587 of police personnel.

The release of the bonus and cash incentives are deferred for personnel with pending administrative cases.
