Valenzuela park shut down due to overcrowding

Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Valenzuela government shut down yesterday a park in the city due to overcrowding and violations of COVID-19 protocols.

Mayor Rex Gatchalian said the Valenzuela City Family Park was closed three days after it was reopened to the public.

“Sorry, but we have to do this for everyone’s safety,” Gatchalian said, adding that the visitors who flocked to the park did not observe minumum health protocols to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

The city government will limit the number of visitors in the park once it reopens.

“We will implement five time slots daily to avoid overcrowding and ensure that health measures are followed by the visitors,” Gatchalian said.
