Iloilo lifts liquor ban
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — The sale of liquor and its consumption in public places are now allowed in this city.
Mayor Jerry Treñas issued an executive order yesterday lifting the liquor ban even as he stressed that only fully vaccinated persons are allowed to drink in public places.
He said restaurants and other establishments should require vaccination cards and proof of identification from their customers before serving liquor.
Treñas said the sale of liquor is allowed only from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., adding that establishments could operate only at 50 percent capacity for indoor venues and 70 percent outdoors.
“As we try to open more economic activities after more than a year, we also want to secure the safety of the community as the virus continues to pose a threat to the lives of the people,” he said.
