MANILA, Philippines — Taking inspiration from the victory of Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto who ended the 27-year rule of the Eusebios in the 2019 elections, Mandaluyong Councilor Roehl Bacar has filed his certificate of candidacy for representative of the city’s lone district.
Bacar is running against Deputy Speaker Neptali Gonzales II, who has been the representative of Mandaluyong since 2019.
Bacar filed his candidacy at the Commission on Elections office in the National Capital Region last week, substituting for Edmund Endaya Resurrecion, who withdrew his candidacy for congressman.
Bacar is running under the Aksyon Demokratiko party of presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
If elected, Bacar said he would push for a bill that would set fixed working hours for public utility vehicle drivers to ensure income security.
