P4 million reward up for CDO lawmaker son killers’ arrest

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — The reward for information leading to the arrest of the killers of the eldest son of first district congressman Rolando Uy and their family caretaker has been raised to P4 million.

Members of the Uy family contributed to raise the bounty for the speedy resolution of the killing of Sherwin Uy, councilman of Barangay Carmen.

Mayor Oscar Moreno had earlier offered a reward of P2 million for the arrest of the killers.

Sherwin, who was running for mayor in next year’s elections, and Samuel Tabalan, 73, were shot dead in Barangay Pagatpat on Thursday last week.

Cagayan de Oro police spokesman Maj. Ivan Viñas said probers are still pursuing possible motives for the killing.

The National Bureau of Investigation is conducting a parallel probe.
