MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos living and working abroad will soon be included in the national ID system as the government readies overseas registration.

During the third Annual Media Forum of the Philippine Statistics Authority on Friday, PSA Assistant Secretary and deputy statistician Rosalinda Bautista said overseas registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) is among the priorities for 2022.

PSA will partner with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and registration in some select areas overseas will start after the May 2022 polls.

“Our overseas Filipinos are important and we have to register everyone. All Filipinos, dual citizens, are part of the PhilSys,” Bautista said.

“The registration entails a similar process to what we are doing here in the Philippines,” she said.

Bautista said the PSA is working on putting the registration centers in the consular offices of the DFA.
