NBI probes Pangilinan’s cyber libel complaint
MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is looking into the complaint filed by vice presidential candidate Sen. Francis Pangilinan against two YouTube channels for allegedly making defamatory remarks against him and his family.
State counsel Angela Marie de Gracia of the Department of Justice cyber crime office said the case filed by Pangilinan had been endorsed to the NBI.
Last July 16, Pangilinan lodged a complaint for cyber libel against the individuals behind the YouTube channels “Starlet” and “Latest Chika” for allegedly uploading malicious videos against his family.
Bernadette Nacario, country manager of Google Philippines, was included in the complaint for allegedly failing to oversee the operations of YouTube, which is owned by Google.
Pangilinan complained about the series of videos reportedly uploaded on YouTube indicating that his wife Sharon Cuneta had filed charges of physical abuse against him.
