Malls host vax rollout for Manila teens

MANILA, Philippines — Minors aged 12 to 17 in Manila can be vaccinated against COVID-19 at shopping malls, the city government announced yesterday.

SM City Manila, SM City San Lazaro, Robinsons Place Manila and Lucky Chinatown Mall hosted the city government’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout for minors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the city government said in its advisory.

Each mall opened 750 slots for COVID-19 vaccine for the general teen population.

Aside from the malls, minors may also receive COVID-19 vaccines at six city-run hospitals: Ospital ng Tondo, Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Hospital, Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital, Ospital ng Maynila, Ospital ng Sampaloc and Sta. Ana Hospital.

As of noon yesterday, 13,358 adolescents were inoculated against COVID-19.

The national government has approved Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for children aged 12 to 17.

Minors and their parents or guardians should bring the following documents on their scheduled vaccination: identification papers like birth certificate or school ID card; a printed waiver form or QR code generated from www.manilacovid19vaccine.ph, and a medical certificate for teenagers with comorbidities.

Online registration is open to teens as 2009 is among the choices for the birth year.
