Cebu lifts RT-PCR, antigen test requirement
MANILA, Philippines — Fully vaccinated local tourists traveling to Cebu are no longer required to present a medical certificate or a negative swab test result.
“Instead, fully vaccinated persons shall be required to present their vaccination cards or vaccination certificates as proof of vaccination,” a memorandum issued by Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia yesterday declared.
Garcia’s earlier memorandum requires travelers to present a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or antigen test result.
The provincial government said the new memorandum applies only to domestic travelers.
International travelers, including returning overseas Filipinos and overseas Filipino workers are still required to present an RT-PCR or antigen test result within 72 hours prior to their arrival based on national government policies.
Cebu province remains under Alert Level 2 until Nov. 14.
The Department of Health said active COVID cases in Cebu City are down to 282; Lapu-Lapu, 89, and Mandaue City, 104 as of Thursday.
