Western Visayas LTO exec axed over traffic violation
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — An official of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Western Visayas was relieved from his post yesterday, a day after he was caught violating traffic rules.
Arturo Apolinar, LTO-Region 6 director, was relieved of his duties and responsibilities, Mayor Jerry Treñas confirmed in a post on Facebook, citing an order signed by LTO chief Edgar Galvante and a message he received from Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.
The Iloilo City Public Safety and Transport Management Office (PTSMO) said Apolinar beat the red light when he crossed the intersection of El-98 street in Jaro disrict on Monday.
The PTSMO said Apolinar ignored traffic enforcers when he was asked to pull over and instead made them follow his vehicle to his office.
It was said to be the fourth time in a week that the LTO official was caught violating traffic rules.
