MANILA, Philippines — Three Chinese and a Filipino were apprehended by police in Pasay City for allegedly kidnapping another Chinese on Friday night.
Zhao Lingdi, 24; Feng Xialong, 31, and Hao Zhengdong, 40, were arrested along with their Filipino companion Aaron Montenegro, 40.
According to a report from the Southern Police District, Chen Yuansen, 21, was allegedly kidnapped by the suspects near the Cultural Center of the Philippines complex on Oct. 2.
Chen was reportedly held captive at a Philippine offshore gaming operator facility along Williams street in Pasay.
The suspects allegedly demanded P300,000 from Chen’s relatives in exchange for his release.
Probers said the victim called his friend, Jin Zhongguo, and asked him to deliver the money to the suspects.
Unknown to the suspects, Jin sought police help.
Police conducted an entrapment operation, resulting in the suspects’ arrest.
Seized from them was a Toyota Hi Ace van registered under the name of Hui Zhang, police said.
The suspects are being held on charges of kidnapping for ransom.
