John Unson - The Philippine Star

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao, Philippines — Eight members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) surrendered in Shariff Aguak town on Wednesday.

Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, 6th Infantry Division commander, said the bandits led by Johar Palaguyan turned over a 60 millimeter mortar, three bolt-action 7.62 rifles, an M14 rifle, an M16, an Ultimax rifle and a rocket-propelled grenade.

Palaguyan and his seven followers renounced their membership with the BIFF and pledged allegiance to the government.

More than 300 BIFF members have surrendered in batches since 2017.
