MANILA, Philippines — Caloocan mayoral candidate Along Malapitan yesterday said he tested positive for COVID-19 days after he filed his certificate of candidacy for next year’s elections.
In a Facebook post, the son of Mayor Oscar Malapitan said he is experiencing cough but remains in stable condition.
The younger Malapitan said he is fully vaccinated.
He tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
Malapitan said he was negative for the virus on the day he filed his candidacy with the local Commission on Elections office in Caloocan last Wednesday, together with his slate for councilors and his father, who seeks to take his congressional seat.
Malapitan urged those he came in contact with him to undergo quarantine and get tested for COVID-19.
