Pro-Duterte group joins party-list race
MANILA, Philippines — Running under the political platform of continuity of the development programs instituted by President Duterte and Sen. Bong Go, Bisaya Gyud party-list on Friday filed its certificate of nomination and acceptance for the May 2022 elections.
Victorino Garay, president of the Bisaya Gyud party-list, along with the members of the group filed his certificate of candidacy with the Commission on Elections at Sofitel Manila in Pasay City.
Garay is the group’s nominee for a seat in the House of Representatives.
If elected, the group seeks to uphold the rights and welfare of the Visayan people and continue the programs initiated by President Duterte and Go in the Visayas and Mindanao.
The party-list group will focus on food, shelter and education, according to Garay.
“In line with the initiatives instituted by President Duterte and Sen. Bong Go in the regions, we will bring our Visayan constituents closer to the government’s basic services,” Garay said.
He pointed out that people in the Visayas opt to try their luck in Metro Manila or abroad because of the lack of livelihood and employment opportunities in the countryside.
