MANILA, Philippines — Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna on Wednesday filed her certificate of candidacy to become the capital city’s top official.
On Wednesday, Lacuna and her running-mate Rep. Yul Servo Nieto (Manila, 3rd District) — gunning for the vice mayor— filed their certificates of candidacy at the local Commission on Elections office.

She and Servo are running under Asenso Manileño.
Addressing the residents of Manila prior to her filing, Lacuna said: “Gumawa po tayo ng kasaysayan sa Lungsod ng Maynila. Bigyan natin ang kapitolyo ng ating bansa ng isang pinuo na may puso ng isang ina, pagmamalasakit ng isang doktora.”
She served as councilor for nine years, from 2004 to 2013. In 2016, she was the running-mate of then-Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada and won.
Lacuna was reelected in 2019, as running-mate of incumbent Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
Moreno, who is running for president, endorsed Lacuna as his successor.
Asenso Manileño in a separate release said they will be fielding a full slate for all the 36 district councilor seats in the Manila City Council. — Kristine Joy Patag
