MANILA, Philippines — Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna yesterday vowed to continue the projects started by first-termer Mayor Isko Moreno, who is running for president in 2022.
In an interview after Moreno filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) yesterday, Lacuna told Manila residents not to worry as she would continue the city government’s financial assistance to the elderly, persons with disabilities and students if she gets elected.
Manila residents have expressed concern about Moreno leaving city hall after just one term in office as he pursues the presidency.
Moreno has endorsed Lacuna as his successor.
Lacuna, a doctor, said she would improve the city’s health services.
She also promised to build a halfway shelter for street dwellers.
Lacuna will file her COC for mayor tomorrow.
She is running against Manila 1st District Rep. Manny Lopez, son of former mayor Mel Lopez.
Zamora to file COC
In San Juan, Mayor Francis Zamora will file today his COC seeking reelection in 2022.
Zamora and his running mate Warren Villa will file their COCs at the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in the city.
Basketball players James Yap, Paul Artadi and Don Allado are running for councilor under Zamora’s ticket.
Zamora’s sister lawyer Bel Zamora is seeking to replace their father, San Juan Rep. Ronaldo Zamora, in next year’s elections.
In Pasay, Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano officially filed her COC yesterday.
Rubiano and her brother, Rep. Antonino Calixto, are seeking reelection. Vice Mayor Boyet del Rosario is Rubiano's running mate.
Rubiano and her entire ticket filed their COCs at the local Comelec office at SM Mall of Asia.
