MANILA, Philippines — A councilor in Malabon yesterday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) to replace his brother, Mayor Antolin Oreta III, in next year’s elections.

Councilor Jose Lorenzo Oreta filed his COC for mayor, with his full councilor slate in Barangay Catmon.

The mayor said he would serve as a “private citizen” after he steps down.

The Oreta brothers trended on Twitter last month over a Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary tarpaulin, which bore their faces.

Pasay mayor seeks reelection

In Pasay, Mayor Emi Rubiano will be filing her (COC) for reelection today under the PDP-Laban party.

In a Viber message, city public information office chief Jun Burgos said Rubiano would be filing her COC at the SM Mall of Asia.

Rubiano’s running mate is Vice Mayor Boyet del Rosario.

Pasay Rep. Tony Calixto is also seeking reelection.

Jomari, Vandolph running again

In Parañaque, Councilors Jomari Yllana and Vandolph Quizon will be seeking reelection in 2022.

Yllana and Quizon will be running under the ticket of Rep. Eric Olivarez, who will file his COC for mayor on Oct. 7.

Olivare’s running mate is Guada Golez.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez will be running for congressman of Parañaque’s 1st District.
