MANILA, Philippines — An alleged leader of a robbery ring operating within Manila Bay was arrested by the police and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) during an entrapment operation in Port Area, Manila on Monday night.
Mark Montilla was nabbed at the Baseco Compound based on a warrant of arrest issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court.
The PCG said Montilla’s group was allegedly responsible for stealing items from vessels anchored in Manila Bay.
Montilla’s cohort, Randy Mendieta, was apprehended by authorities during a follow-up operation yesterday.
Montilla told police that the stolen items were being kept by Mendieta and another cohort identified only as Ruel.
Authorities said they would track down the other members of the robbery group.
