Pangasinan town village locked down

SISON, Pangasinan, Philippines — Barangay Poblacion Norte in this town was placed under total lockdown starting yesterday until Oct. 2 as COVID-19 cases surged.

The local inter-agency task force on COVID-19 approved the lockdown as requested by the barangay council and following consultation with the provincial health office.

Mayor Danilo Uy said Barangay Poblacion Norte logged 29 active cases as of yesterday. The town has more than 200 active infections.

With the lockdown, only medical workers and uniformed personnel are allowed to go out of their residence.

Uy said they would start distributing relief goods to affected families today.
