Magnitude-4.7 quake rocks Antique towns
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude-4.7 earthquake rocked three towns in Antique yesterday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, occurred at 4:49 a.m. with its epicenter located five kilometers northwest of Valderrama town.
It was felt at Intensities 4, 3 and 2 in Valderrama, Bugasong and San Jose de Buenavista, respectively.
Six minutes later, a magnitude-3.9 temblor occurred six km northwest of Valderrama.
Both quakes were not expected to cause damage or generate aftershocks, Phivolcs said.
