Chinese rescued from ‘kidnappers’

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Residents foiled an attempt by a group of men to kidnap a Chinese in Cavinti, Laguna on Sunday night.

Jiang Yong Lu, alias Luis Lu, was placed under the custody of the Cavinti police.

Reports said that Lu and his driver Alejandro Ravena went to the Saddle Hotel in Barangay West Talongan to supposedly meet some people.

These people, allegedly in connivance with Ravena, were planning to kidnap Lu, probers said.

Bystanders including Anjo Oliveros, a brother of a town mayor, responded when they saw that the men were forcing Lu into their vehicle.

The kidnappers fled, leaving Lu behind.

Police dispatched a team to track the kidnappers.
