Cop nabbed in sting
MANILA, Philippines — A police corporal and his two companions were arrested in a sting in Gerona, Tarlac over the weekend.
Cpl. Geymar Orquero, Marvin Gadia and Joel Umagat were arrested after they reportedly sold shabu to undercover agents in Barangay Calayaan on Friday, the Philippine National Police reported yesterday.
Orquero is assigned at the Tarlac City police.
Gadia and Umangat were known drug suppliers in Gerona and Tarlac, authorities said.
Central Luzon police director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon said Orquero was also a drug user and a drug protector.
De Leon said Orquero has accomplices within the local police force who are involved in protecting and financing drug operations in Gerona and other areas in the province.
Seized from the suspects were an undetermined amount of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia and a handgun.
