Marcoses, supporters celebrate late president’s birthday
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — The Marcoses and their supporters are celebrating the birthday of former president Ferdinand Marcos.
A thanksgiving mass will be held today at the Immaculate Conception parish followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the “Daytoy ti Bannawag” monument in Batac City.
Former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Sen. Imee Marcos and Ilocos Norte Gov. Matthew Manotoc will lead the weeklong celebration of the 104th birth anniversary of the late president.
A medical mission that will offer free dialysis for indigent residents will be held today until Sept. 17 at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center while the provincial government will launch a career week.
In coordination with the provincial social welfare and development office, COVID-19 relief packs will be distributed to vulnerable families in Paoay, Sarrat, and Pasuquin and food packs to severely affected barangays across the province.
The Ilocos Norte provincial board passed a resolution on Monday declaring Sept. 10 instead of Sept. 11 as a special non-working holiday to celebrate the birthday of the former president.
