Binay, Eleazar among nominees for outstanding government workers

MANILA, Philippines — Makati Mayor Abby Binay and Philippine National Police chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar are among the semi-finalists in this year’s search for Outstanding Government Workers, according to the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

The CSC said it would accept feedbacks on the semi-finalists until Sept. 15.

“The gathering of feedback aims to ensure that only those deserving will be conferred with the highest recognition given to state employees,” the commission said.

Three awards are up for grabs: Presidential Lingkod Bayan, Outstanding Public Officials and Employees or the Dangal ng Bayan and the CSC Pagasa.

Eleazar and Binay were among those nominated for the Presidential Lingkod Bayan or PLB Award.

The PLB Award is conferred on an individual or group for extraordinary contribution that had “nationwide impact on public interest, security and patrimony.”

The other semi-finalists for the PLB Award, individual category, are Researcher II/Scientist I Nelly Siababa Aggangan of the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, University of the Philippines-Los Baños, Laguna; medical center chief II Dr. Gerardo Magabilin Aquino Jr., Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Cebu City; Deputy Executive Director IV Flordeliza Hidalgo Bordey, Philippine Rice Research Institute, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Director III Rey Mancera Cueva, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Agusan Del Norte office; agriculturist Harold Sancho Dawa, Tagum City, Davao Del Norte; agricultural center chief II/Scientist I Dr. Angel Balisi Encarnacion, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Director IV Gerardo Dizon Legaspi, Philippine General Hospital, UP- Manila, and Executive Director IV Dr. Rose Marie Rosete Liquete, National Kidney and Transplant Institute.

The PLB semi-finalists under the group category are the Hope Behind Bars Project of the Bataan Peninsula State University; Outpatient Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center of the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, and Team 2, Audit Group A-Charity Fund and Prize Fund Cluster 6, Corporate Government Sector of the Commission on Audit-Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office in Mandaluyong.
