MANILA, Philippines (Corrected September 6, 2021 3:57 p.m.) — The Philippine National Police Internal Affair Service (IAS) has absolved the policemen involved in an anti-drug operation in Biñan, Laguna on June 16, which left a 16-year-old boy dead.
IAS Inspector General Alfegar Triambulo said probers did not find evidence of foul play in the death of Johndy Helis.
Helis and drug suspect Antonio Dalit allegedly resisted arrest and shot it out with law enforcers serving a warrant.
The 10 policemen who were part of the operation were placed under restrictive custody following the incident.
Triambulo said investigators found out that everything was in order.
“Malinis naman. Naka-document lahat,” he said, adding that no witness came forward to substantiate allegations that the two were killed in cold blood.
Triambulo said Helis' parents refused to cooperate in the probe. “Ayaw talaga nila magreklamo,” he said.
