ANGELES CITY, Philippines — Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. was brought to the Sacred Heart Medical Center yesterday after his swab test result showed that he was positive for COVID-19.
An ambulance of the city disaster risk reduction and management office picked up Lazatin from his residence.
Lazatin’s adviser Irish Calaguas said the mayor has cough and cold.
Calaguas said Lazatin would remain in charge of the city government even as she appealed to the public to pray for the mayor’s early recovery.
Lazatin was fully vaccinated with China-made Sinovac on June 29.
On Sunday, he led the distribution of personal protective equipment and facemasks to private hospitals in the city.
