BILIRAN, Philippines — A Sangguniang Kabataan chairman, who is facing rape charges, was arrested in this province recently.
Edwin Arisgado of Barangay Langgao, Cabucgayan town, reportedly ranked fourth in the list of the provincial police’s most wanted persons, according to Lt. Teofilo Gervacio, town police chief.
Arisgado was arrested on Aug. 24 in the nearby town of Biliran, where he had been hiding since he allegedly committed the crime in his hometown.
The arrest was based on a warrant issued by Judge Constantino Esber of the Regional Trial Court Branch 27 in January last year.
No bail was recommended for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
The charges stemmed from a complaint filed by the victim, who alleged that the rape happened on July 10, 2019.
