Rain seen today as ITCZ prevails over Philippines
MANILA, Philippines — The entire country can expect gloomy weather today due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said.
In a bulletin issued at 4 p.m. yesterday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the ITCZ would bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over, Aurora, Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Isabela, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Western Visayas and Zamboanga peninsula as well as Metro Manila.
Residents have been advised to watch out for flashfloods and landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Senior weather specialist Chris Perez said no storm or any other weather disturbance has been monitored, although cloudy weather with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected to continue until Thursday, especially in Baguio City and Metro Manila.
PAGASA said the maximum temperature would range from 25.4 to 31.8 degrees Celcius.
Light to moderate winds can be expected in the country and seawaves are moderate from .6 to 2.1 meters high, PAGASA said.
