ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook Zamboanga Sibugay on Wednesday night.
Allan Rommel Labayog, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) regional field officer, said the epicenter of the quake, which occurred at about 8:03 p.m, was located nine kilometers off the coast of Mabuhay town on Olutanga Island.
Phivolcs said the temblor was felt at Intensity 5, which is classified as strong, in Mabuhay, and Intensity 4 or moderately strong in Isabela, Basilan; Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur; Diplahan and Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga City.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Gutalac, Leon B. Postigo, Liloy, Salug, Siayan, Sindangan, Siocon and Tampilisan in Zamboanga del Norte, Pagadian City and Alicia in Zamboanga Sibugay, and Intensity 2 in Dipolog City, Manukan and Polanco in Zamboanga del Norte, Molave in Zamboanga del Sur and Titay in Zamboanga Sibugay.
