Caloocan requires quarantine pass during MECQ

MANILA, Philippines — Residents of Caloocan City are still obliged to use the quarantine passes issued by the city government even if Metro Manila has been placed under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), Mayor Oscar Malapitan said yesterday.

The passes would ensure that only people authorized to buy goods or visit businesses allowed under MECQ would leave their houses, he said.

The passes should be used until the city government orders residents to no longer use them, he emphasized.

The city government issued three kinds of quarantine passes: one for informal workers; another with a schedule every Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and another with a schedule every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The two latter passes also have Sunday schedules, one from 5 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and another from 1:31 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Malapitan also warned residents who are not classified as authorized persons outside residence to remain at home.

The city police reported that 4,871 city residents were apprehended for violating the city’s quarantine protocols from Aug. 6 to 20, when Metro Manila was under enhanced community quarantine.
