Dump truck rams store; 1 dead

MANILA, Philippines — A tricycle driver was killed and two other persons were injured when a dump truck plowed into vehicles and rammed a store in Antipolo City, Rizal yesterday.

Charly Dave Dapapac, 22, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Rizal Provincial Hospital.

Rosita Alsonado, 67, and Arnold Gravador, 26, were injured and brought to a hospital for treatment.

Rizal police director Col. Joseph Arguelles said truck driver Romeo Gacho told probers that he lost control of the wheel when the brake malfunctioned while driving down the road in Barangay San Jose at around 6:30 a.m. The truck hit a pickup, three tricycles and a motorcycle.

Gacho was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple injuries and damage to property.

The accident snarled traffic in the area.
