Pasig, Mandaluyong, San Juan to start aid distribution
MANILA, Philippines — The city governments of Pasig, Mandaluyong and San Juan will start this week the distribution of ayuda or cash assistance to low-income residents.
Pasig downloaded P650.8 million in cash aid for qualified beneficiaries on Friday, Mayor Vico Sotto said.
Sotto said they are waiting for the guidelines from the national government before proceeding with the distribution.
“Susubukan natin gawan ng paraan para mapabilis ang pamamahagi nito,” he said in a Facebook post.
San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora said they received P101.7 million in funding from the national government.
“We are targeting to distribute by Monday,” Zamora said in a text message.
He said they plan to disburse the assistance to 100 beneficiaries per hour in each of the city’s 21 barangays to avoid crowding and ensure that health protocols are observed.
Mayor Carmelita Abalos of Mandaluyong said the aid distribution would begin tomorrow.
Abalos said they received P347.6 million, which will be released at designated payout sites in the city’s 27 barangays.
