Cabangbang named PSG chief

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — President Duterte has appointed Col. Randolph Cabangbang as the fifth head of the Presidential Security Group (PSG).

Cabangbang will replace Brig. Gen. Jesus Durante III effective Aug. 15.

Cabangbang is the fifth PSG chief since Duterte assumed office in 2016.

The other PSG chiefs who served under the administration were Rolando Bautista, now social welfare secretary, followed by Brig. Gen. Lope Dagoy and Brig. Gen. Jose Eirel Niembra.

Cabangbang’s family is based in Davao City.

He served as deputy commander of the Army-led Task Force Davao and chief of the Second Infantry Division in Tanay, Rizal.

Durante has been designated commander of the Philippine Army’s 1001st Brigade in Maco, Davao de Oro.
