MANILA, Philippines — Over one million residents and workers in Quezon City have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, local officials announced yesterday.

According to the city government, a total of 1,612,773 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered since the start of the vaccination program last March.

These were provided to 1,015,256 individuals, including 597,517 people who received their second dose.

The local government said a total of 689,805 individuals are considered fully vaccinated, citing the single-dose Janssen vaccines that were recently administered to senior citizens.

“We will continue to vaccinate our residents and workers until everyone is protected,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

The city plans to inoculate at least 1.7 million residents to achieve population protection.

Belmonte asked for understanding from those who have not received their vaccination schedule.

“With the increased supply committed to us by the national government this ECQ, we will accelerate inoculations once the supply is delivered to the city,” she said, referring to the enhanced community quarantine.

The city is waiting for the 1.1 million doses of AstraZeneca that it procured.
