MANILA, Philippines — Eight food companies in Metro Manila were declared safe for both workers and consumers after getting the safety seal from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello said the eight companies under San Miguel Corp. (SMC) received the DOLE safety seal on Tuesday.
These are San Miguel Foods Inc., Purefoods-Hormel Co. Inc., Magnolia Inc., San Miguel Mills, Golden Bay Grain Terminal Corp., San Miguel Food and Beverages and San Miguel Super Coffeemix Co. Inc.
Bello said these companies deserved recognition because of their compliance with government-sanctioned health protocols and commendable employment process.
“SMC’s safety compliance is truly commendable. The company hires employees directly and not from agencies,” he said.
San Miguel Foods Inc. assistant vice president and head of human resources Daniel De Castro said about 80 percent of the SMC workforce have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Thirty percent of SMC employees adopt work-from-home arrangements to ensure social distancing measures in the workplace.
