Call center agent killed by fallen tree

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A call center agent was declared dead on arrival at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center after the taxi in which she was riding was hit by a fallen tree along Kennon Road on Friday.

The fatality was identified as Esmeralda Suriaga, 39.

Her companions Wilfredo, 63, and Samuel, also surnamed Suriaga, who were injured, were discharged from the hospital on the same day.

Police said the taxi was on its way to the city proper when the tree fell as the soil loosened after days of heavy rains.
